This commercial office building in the heart of South Beach has a multi-level parking structure integrated directly into the building.  Due to the close proximity of this building to the Atlantic Ocean, and the effects of continuously being exposed to salt air (and hurricanes), the parking structure was in need of repairs & waterproofing protection.  The owner was interested in repairing and waterproofing the top level of this integral parking garage, while getting the best value for his money.  

BMW DISTRIBUTION CENTER

The challenge for designers in this BMW construction project encompassed finding the most efficient waterproofing method for the expansive warehouse and covered parking facilities. Speed of application was crucial to maintain the construction schedule for this large-scale project, while ensuring enduring protection from the elements. Despite considering alternatives from competitors like Pentens and Penetron, the TechCrete 2500 Waterproofing System was chosen for its long-term effectiveness. Leveraging EMSS subsurface waterproofing technology, the system forms a waterproofing gel within the concrete matrix, ensuring durability over time. HUNI D’ECO ARDENCE

Eco Sanctuary, a sprawling eco-themed township developed by Eco World Development Group Bhd, encompasses duduk, a new brand offering budget-friendly high-rise developments aimed at urban dwellers. Among its offerings are Se.Ruang D’ Eco Sanctuary and Huni D’ Eco Ardence, both comprising 32-story towers housing serviced apartments. The waterproofing application for this phase, spanning over several years, was crucial to protect various components including roofs, pools, concrete parking structures, and bathrooms, ensuring adherence to the construction timeline. Despite considering alternatives from Pentens and Penetron, the TechCrete 2500 Waterproofing System was selected for its ability to provide long-term protection using EMSS subsurface waterproofing technology, while maintaining a swift application pace to meet project deadlines effectively.

HARRISBURG INTL AIRPORT

In 2004, the construction of a new terminal building and parking structure at the airport posed the challenge of protecting the concrete from harsh weather conditions, including corrosive snow and ice melt commonly used in the area during winter. While liquid traffic coatings are typically used in such projects, their limited lifespan of 5 to 10 years fell short of the desired durability standards due to issues like blistering and delamination. LOGAN INTL AIRPORT

The challenge presented was how to effectively protect a 17,000 sq. ft. section of the Central Parking Structure suffering from cracks and leaks, exacerbated by continual exposure to salt air and harsh winter conditions in the Northeast, along with corrosive snow and ice melt products. Typically, TechCrete 2500 Waterproofing Agent competes with Silane Sealers or Polyurethane Traffic Coatings, both offering short-term performance and falling short of true waterproofing. A few years after completing construction of their 275-acre Corporate Headquarters Campus in 2003, Lowe’s aimed to provide long-term protection for the top levels of two employee parking structures, seeking to prevent deterioration and extend their service life. Typically, liquid-applied traffic coating systems would be competitors, but they come with issues such as short-term protection, labor-intensive application, and ongoing costs. The McCutcheon Hall parking structure at Purdue University faced the challenge of ensuring long-term protection to extend its service life. The Prince Resort at Cherry Hills Pier, situated on the South Carolina coastline, faces challenges from harsh weather conditions like hurricanes and corrosion from salt air. UPMC MAGEE WOMEN’S HOSPITAL

BOA TOWERS

This existing parking structure is connected to the Bank of America Tower in downtown Jacksonville, FL.  The 8th level of the parking structure is owned/managed by Hertz Investment Group who wanted to ensure their level of the parking structure was effectively protected and were searching for a waterproofing system that could provide decades-long protection.  That included actually waterproofing the concrete, as well as protecting the steel reinforcement bars from corrosion.

ABBOTSLEIGH SCHOOL

The challenge in designing the award-winning Sports Hall on the school campus involved constructing a raised multi-sport artificial turf field over a car park area to optimize space. To safeguard the structural concrete of the field from weather damage, the designers sought effective waterproofing solutions. While crystalline-based concrete admixtures from various manufacturers are known for enhancing concrete's waterproof properties during pouring, the designers opted for a product they had successfully used in a similar project on another school campus.
