ENVY APARTMENT COMPLEX

The owners of this new construction project were interested in a long-term waterproofing solution to protect the concrete on their new high-end apartment complex & parking structure.  The weather conditions in south Florida, particularly with the salt air along the Atlantic Coast are incredibly harsh on exposed concrete structures.  Since the parking structure was engineered to last at least 50 years, they wanted a waterproofing system that would last for decades before needing to be reapplied.

ALBERTO BRAGLIA SOCCER STADIUM

In 2010, renovations were planned for the stadium, home to FC Modena since 1936, which included refurbishing the concrete seating areas surrounding the playing field to extend the facility's lifespan. While liquid polyurethane coatings are commonly used, they offer only short-term protection and require frequent reapplications, involving significant labor due to the stadium's 20,000+ seats. Seeking a long-term solution, the decision was made to remove the seats, strip away previous coatings, and clean the concrete. The application of TechCrete 2500 Waterproofing Agent, using EMSS technology, formed a waterproofing gel below the surface, ensuring enduring protection against weather conditions and steel reinforcement corrosion for decades to come.

Hilton Colliseum

INDIANAPOLIS AIRPORT

The Colonel H. Weir Cook Terminal Building at Indianapolis Airport faced severe cracking and deterioration in the entryway and sidewalks, particularly at the heavily trafficked Departures entrance over the Arrivals/Baggage Claim area. Complicating matters, the area had to remain accessible to the public 24/7, with concerns of water leakage onto those below and the need for snow and ice management in the winter. Traditional solutions like liquid coating membranes or concrete sealers fell short due to their short-term effectiveness and potential alteration of concrete appearance, alongside lengthy application times. Opting for a different approach, the TechCrete 2500 Waterproofing System with EMSS technology was chosen to effectively address the concrete deterioration. This solution provided subsurface waterproofing, sealing existing cracks, and offering ongoing protection against future damage. Its quick application allowed work during off-peak hours, ensuring minimal disruption to airport operations. The project was strategically split into phases to address both waterproofing and concrete repair effectively.

CSU STADIUM

In 2017, Colorado State University faced an urgent issue with concrete deterioration in parts of their newly constructed football facility, Canvas Stadium, raising concerns as such structures are typically designed for a lifespan of 50 to 75 years. The challenge was to halt the ongoing decay and prevent future deterioration to safeguard their investment for decades to come. While liquid-applied coating systems were the typical solution, they posed drawbacks such as slow application, high cost, and limited protection duration. Leveraging the success of the gel-forming TechCrete 2500 Waterproofing System in resolving leaking issues at the CSU basketball arena, the Facilities Department opted for the same technology to address the football stadium's premature concrete deterioration. The system's long-term protection, one-time application, preservation of concrete appearance and slip resistance, along with its cost-effectiveness, eco-friendliness, and rapid application, made it the ideal choice, offering substantial value to the university.

HILTON COLISSEUM

The pedestrian skybridge leading to the Hilton Coliseum, serving as the ISU Cyclones Basketball Arena, had been plagued by cracks and water leakage for years, causing discomfort to those waiting in line below during rainy weather. Initially considering replacement due to persistent complaints, the university sought a waterproofing solution to salvage the structure. Common options like silane-based sealers or polyurethane traffic coatings fell short as they required frequent reapplications. Opting for a different approach, the University Facilities Department chose Alchemco's TechCrete 2500 Waterproofing System with EMSS technology. This spray-applied system penetrates concrete surfaces, forming a waterproofing gel below, protecting against water intrusion, ice melt chemicals, and severe weather. Environmentally friendly and potable water certified, this award-winning solution provided a sustainable and effective remedy to the skybridge's longstanding issues.

MOBY ARENA

Colorado State University's 1966 whale-shaped basketball arena required urgent repairs and waterproofing of its cracking plaza deck due to harsh Ft. Collins winters and chemical treatments. Traditional temporary sealers and coatings were deemed inadequate for the desired long-term protection. The university opted for the TechCrete 2500 Waterproofing System with EMSS technology, providing a subsurface gel for lasting durability. This environmentally friendly and economically viable solution offered the necessary combination of benefits for the critical campus project.

PETERSEN EVENT CENTER

The challenge on this project was how to most effectively provide long-term protection for the concrete sidewalk, stairs, and plaza deck areas outside of the Petersen Event Center.  Given the harsh winter weather conditions, and the amount of snow & ice melt chemicals that are used to keep the high traffic areas around the arena clear for pedestrians … the concrete takes a tremendous beating.  These chemicals actively penetrate untreated concrete and cause corrosion of the embedded steel reinforcement inside the concrete.  This corrosion causes the steel to expand and crack the concrete from the inside, causing it to deteriorate more quickly.
