THE CHALLENGE

This new construction project (3 towers) began the third phase of The Sanctuary Development project by the Runnymede Group of Companies.  One of the challenges on this project is the scheduling of the concrete waterproofing applications.  Since the towers have been under construction for years now, and there are many areas to waterproof (rooftops, bathrooms, pools, podium decks, parking structures, etc.) the waterproofing must be applied as each of those areas are constructed – in order to keep the overall project construction schedule on time.  This also requires waterproofing materials that do not take a long time to cure – which could delay the schedule.


THE SOLUTION

Many specifiers are starting to use the award-winning TechCrete 2500 Waterproofing System, with its EMSS subsurface waterproofing technology.  Its ability to form a waterproofing gel inside the concrete matrix itself – allowed the designers to provide long-term protection for all parts of the project that required true waterproofing protection – not just a concrete sealer.  In addition, the speed-of-application provided by TC 2500 allowed the construction schedule to stay on pace, ensuring the project was completed in a timely manner.

THE RESULTS

Since the project is still under construction, there is not a long performance record to look back on, but so far, the extremely fast application rate of the TechCrete 2500 Waterproofing System has helped keep the overall construction schedule on time.  This unique gel-forming subsurface membrane system will provide decades of protection from inside the concrete slab itself.  This outstanding technology can be used for all parts of the structure, wherever water protection is needed.
